Why You Can’t Keep a Consistent Mindset? 3 Tips to Improve Your Thinking

May 25, 2020 by Jesse Leave a Comment

3 min read

Your mindset is inconsistent for 3 reasons:

  1. You’re consuming trashy content
  2. You’re not training your mind
  3. You’re living somebody else’s dream

It doesn’t have to be this way. You have a choice.

The Mind is a muscle. You can build it up, or let it deteriorate.

When I was younger, I never used to think about my mindset. I was able to live life like I was invincible.

I was broke, confident, and in charge of my little world.

As I matured, I started building assets and my career took off.

Those are all good things, but they increased my responsibility and gave me something to lose.

It’s easy to focus when you have a one-dimensional life. It’s hard to focus when you’re trying to do it all.

One minute I’m working to be the ace employee. The next minute I’m planning to be:

  • The best fiance’
  • The top grad student
  • The best Crossfitter

If you can’t tell by now, this mentality did not work. So, what did I do?

I learned to increase my will.

The Key to Willpower

A bodybuilder doesn’t build his physique by accident, and you won’t build an iron will without training. The methods needed to train your mind are reflected in the methods used to train your body.

1. Improve Your Brain Food

A consistent mindset is impossible to attain without disciplined media consumption. Just like a strong, lean body is impossible to attain without disciplined eating.

Feed your mind the information it needs to be healthy and strong. This means you need to manage:

  • What You Watch
  • What You Read
  • What You Listen To
  • What You Speak

Make a conscious effort to fill your environment with content that stimulates the growth you are trying to achieve.

2. Prioritize Your Training

You have to do what you say you’re trying to do. Make a decision on what’s important.

If you’re trying to get a degree, you need to study and complete your assignments.

If you’re trying to get a promotion, you need to perform and make your boss happy.

If you’re trying to repair a relationship, you need to show up and make others feel appreciated.

A lot of effort is required no matter the training regimen. You have to direct your energy towards the result you want to manifest.

3. Remove Distractions

The call to action from work, community, and entertainment is loud. Don’t let the chatter be louder than your internal drive.

Affirm yourself daily that,

I am smart. I am strong. I am powerful.

I can do anything!

Talking to yourself may seem silly, but you need to recondition your mind for success. Left to chance, the mainstream media will condition your mind for poverty and control.

Conclusion

You can take control of your environment, and blaze your own path. It starts with deciding that you want to be better and that you want to do the work to make it happen.
