Bullet Journaling is an effective way to track to-do’s without being distracted by technology.

However, you might be missing 3 habits that can simplify your day.

Bad Ass holding journal

1. Make Habit Trackers

The monthly page has a lot of space for information. You can use this real estate to track your goals for the month. I recommend drawing a calendar on the month page.

Use a stencil to draw 3 calendars to reflect the 3 habits you’ll focus on for the month. Then, document each day you perform the habit by filling in a square.

You can see my handy work in the picture below. You don’t have to be an artist to get it done.

This gets really motivating when you get a streak going. You’ll want to stick to your goals, so that you can fill-in as many days as possible.

Don’t get too excited with your artistic skills and sketch more goals than you can accomplish. Choose the top 3 priorities and execute the plan.

2. Do a Nightly Review

Every day you will create a new entry for your notes. I recommend starting your entries the night before. You should populate your priorities early, so you don’t have to strain your mind at 5am.

As you populate your tasks, don’t forget to check the monthly log for upcoming appointments. Incorporate these monthly tasks in the daily log, so they aren’t missed.

3. Block 2 Hours for High Value

Journals are great because they encourage you to hold yourself accountable. Calendars are better because they show the time constraints you have.

You’ll never have all the time you want, so you must prioritize the tasks that create value.

I recommend blocking off 1.5 – 2 hours in the morning for the task you dread. Once you make progress on your most difficult task, you will create momentum that carries you throughout the day.

Try it Out!

These 3 habits will help you complete high value tasks and eliminate busy work. I’ve been more consistent since I added them to my daily routine.

Now that you’re a Bullet Journal Bad Ass, you may need some new accessories. Check out the tools I use.
